The Russian government’s interagency working group for the creation of special economic zones (SEZ) has approved the creation of the first industrial manufacturing SEZ in Kemerovo Region, the regional government said.

The sites of the SEZ in the Kemerovo and Topki municipalities are located near train stations, the R-255 Siberia highway and the future Kemerovo bypass.

There are plans to carry out four investment projects in the Topki district, including the AmarantAgro LLC facility to process amaranth grain; a Sibcem Holding Company (MOEX: MOEX: SCEM) plant to produce lime; and two unnamed projects in the medical and food sectors.

At the site in Kemerovo, there are plans to carry out the Azot-2 LLC project to produce ammonia and granular urea.

“Potential residents’ investments total about 92.8 billion rubles. At least 1,200 new jobs will be created,” the regional government’s press service said.
